Scientists design a new spacecraft, called a HAMMER, to carry nukes to incoming asteroids that threaten Earth
U.S. researchers and engineers are designing a new spacecraft that can either ram hazardous asteroids away from Earth or nuke them into oblivion, reported a ScienceDirect article. They chose to name it HAMMER for obvious reasons. HAMMER stands for Hypervelocity Asteroid Mitigation Mission for Emergency Response.
